Choosing The Theme
MJ has been obsessed with trains for a while now. Here recently, he's been loving Thomas the Train. He watches the shows, reads the books, and plays with all the trains that Grampy will buy him. We just knew he'd love a Thomas Birthday Party.

The Invitations
The invitation was personalized from Zazzle and I built the decor around it. Digital downloads are the way to go if you're not planning on sending paper invitations. Click here for the link to the invitation template.
Outside Decorations
The venue where we host the party doesn't have a huge area for outdoor decorations. Additionally, it was very windy that day. We went with something simple and taped a personalized picture on the door. Click HERE for the template download.

Indoor Decorations
We chose light blue tablecloths to give the room a "Thomas the Train blue". The centerpieces were a great addition to the tables. We also utilized chair covers to unify the mismatched chairs.
For the gift table, I made and printed the sign. Click HERE to print the sign for yourself.

Photo Area Set Up
I made a balloon garland with a "happy birthday" banner. The foil balloons were a great addition. To top it off, we added a train track runner and railroad signs. We wanted this to be a picture-perfect moment.

Food and Dessert
We decided to serve dessert only. My mom and I made the cookies. We had Percy's peanut butter cookies, Sir Topham Hat's sugar cookies, Charlie's chocolate chip cookies, and Luke's lime cookies. The cake and cupcakes were purchased from Sam's Club. We did a simple white sheet cake with light blue edges. I made two cupcake toppers for the top of the cake to really hammer the theme home. For the cupcakes, we got chocolate and white for a variety. I made the cupcake toppers and we had some of MJ's train toys circle around the cupcake holder. Servingware
We decided on small dark blue plates and yellow and white striped napkins. Along with those, we chose red Solo cups and yellow and red forks to complete the full Sodor look. We went with a classic red punch to serve with the sweets, alongside tea and water.

The Result?
Hello all! Michael here! The party was amazing. It was a great setup for a great day. The best part was watching MJ see the Thomas decorations for the first time and him showing off his Thomas birthday shirt. He really enjoyed having cake, running around with the other kids, and opening his presents. He got plenty of Thomas trains that he couldn't wait for me to open. We all had a great time catching up with family, some friends, and celebrating our brand new 3-year-old. If your little one loves trains, this is definitely the way to go. We hope your children have as much fun with this theme as we did!
