Toy Story Themed Movie Night

The First Of Many

Last Saturday Michael and I decided to throw the kids a fun Toy Story-themed movie night. It's one of Michael's and my favorite Disney-Pixar movies from when we were kids, and the boys love watching it! We want to continue doing these movie nights while the kids are still young and can appreciate the simple times with Mom and Dad. We made the food and decorated our small kitchen table with our spread.

What we served

I searched Pinterest and got a lot of great inspiration. Some of these ideas we took directly, and others were Michael's and my original ideas. We served a lot of toddler-friendly food, however, we did sneak a healthy choice in there as well.

Appetizers

  • Slinky Spring Fries. These were just curly fries that we air-fried.
  • Bo-Beep Breadsticks. We always get Casey's pizza for Mack's monthly birthdays to take his milestone pictures with. We ended up just doing this at the same time. For the breadsticks, we ordered the 4-cheese loaded breadsticks. These are our favorites!

Entrees

  • Pizza Planet Pizza. We ordered a large Casey's Pepperoni pizza with extra cheese, pepperoni, and sauce. It was absolutely delicious. Plus MJ actually loves pizza so it's something he'll eat.
  • Hamm's Meatballs. We wanted another option besides pizza, so we just made some frozen meatballs. I served them with marinara sauce, but you could always use BBQ sauce, Chile sauce, or leave them plain.

Desserts

  • Alien Cupcakes. We try to limit the amount of synthetic dyes that we eat, so for the green frosting we used this all natural food coloring. It's made from natural coloring ingredients but still gives that vibrant color!
  • Rex's Raspberry Yogurt Bark. We wanted a healthier option alongside the cupcakes and MJ loves yogurt so it was an easy choice. I just blended frozen raspberries and mixed them with yogurt. Popped it into the freezer and broke it into bark-sized pieces

Drinks

  • Buzz Lightyear's Galactic Limeade. We usually only let MJ drink milk or water, however, we wanted to try something special for tonight's menu. We made some limeade and added some of the blue and red natural dye for a classic Buzz Lightyear purple. It tasted great, but MJ wasn't so convinced. (LOL).

The Toy Story set up

We got a yellow tablecloth for our small table and bought a Toy Story banner. The clouds work perfectly for the Toy Story theme! I made a few balloon clusters to add to the banner and they turned out so cute. We decided to go with neutral servingware so we could use it for subsequent movie nights!

Here's everything we used for the tablescape! Some of the things we already had, so it's not exact, but everything listed can be swapped for what we used. I did decide last minute to use a bowl instead of a plate for the meatballs. The cake stands were left over from our wedding and it gave some depth to the table layout.

Now it's your turn!

This was such a fun night and the kids had a GREAT time. After the movie, we played Candy Land with MJ and he had so much fun matching the color blocks.

To make it easy for you, we've made the food labels and menu available for download. Click here to download them.

We can't wait for our next movie night. We're already planning to do a Cars-themed movie night, complete with Chick Hicks Chicken Nuggets! Let us know in the comments if you had as much fun as we did doing a Toy Story Movie Night. We'd love to hear from you!
